Essendene Lodge Preparatory School and Nursery is a well-established preparatory school in the heart of Caterham.
Often described as a ‘hidden gem’ the school enjoys a history of providing a well-rounded education for boys and girls from 2 to 11 years. The school is nearly 60 years old, founded by Mrs Shirley Haydock in 1966 the school has achieved outstanding reputation in the local community and has remained outstanding in inspections over the years. Mrs Haydock’s ethos of small class sizes and providing a nurturing and a genuine family friendly school is upheld to this day.
Under the umbrella of the Inspired Learning Group since 2019 we continue to work in partnership with our parents, invest in our staff and provide a very competitive fee structure to enable a private school education that can boast of academic rigour, include the breadth and depth of all national curriculum subjects so that children truly enjoy their formative years of education. We prepare children to sit entrance exams for the prestigious independent schools in the area as well as grammar schools.
